The department aims, in conjunction and integration with other departments of the Institute, to achieve the productive and economic efficiency of the resources available in the new lands and arid lands, by transferring and indigenizing modern technology to maximize agricultural productivity in plant production, animal production, productivity and water unit. This section focuses its activities on the following economic and social studies: The economics of management and development of land and water resources in arid lands. Economic studies of modern irrigation systems in desert and arid lands. Economic evaluation of plant and animal production systems in desert lands and modern technological methods for their development. Studies to maximize the use of the arid desert landscape in the production and processing of organic crops for export and to increase income in these areas. Economic studies for applying modern technology to develop pastures in arid lands and laying down systems to achieve sustainable development of pastures. The economics of using modern technologies in the production of unconventional fodder and the production of organic fertilizers and biofuels in arid lands. Studies of the economic effects of climate change on agricultural and livestock production in arid lands Studies for the sustainable development of fish production in lakes and beaches in arid regions.
