Today, Sunday, July 14, 2024, the city concluded the activities of the 2024 Startups Olympics project in cooperation with the management and… Follow-up to the Innovation support Fund (ISF), represented by Prof. Dr. Ghada Ali Khudari, representative of the Innovators and Geniuses Sponsorship Fund, and Mentors International Company as a strategic partner for implementing the training program towards enhancing the capabilities of students and researchers from the city, in partnership and joining Burj Al Arab Technological University, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Morsy Al-Gohary, President of Borg El Arab Technological University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Deputy Director of the City for Scientific and Research Affairs, the Deans of Research Institutes in the City, and Prof. Dr. Amira Jalal Darwish, Coordinator of the Innovators and Geniuses Fund at Borg El Arab Technological University, The deans of colleges at the university, and a group of industrialists and entrepreneurs, headed by Mr. Engineer Magdy Al-Taher, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rubex Company, and Dr. Hani Al-Menshawy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Summer Moon Company. Professor Dr. Mona Mahmoud Abdel Latif, Director of the City, confirmed that the Startup Olympiad project comes within the City’s directions to support and embrace the creative and innovative ideas of young innovators, researchers, and students, especially the students of Burj Al Arab Technological University who have innovative ideas and want to develop them into a real business model and create Start-up companies and create the appropriate environment for the development of their projects through discussions that will be a starting point for practical projects and initiatives aimed at supporting them and working to direct their energy towards building a more sustainable society, within the framework of the city implementing its pioneering and supportive societal role in this regard and in accordance with the National Strategy for Science and Technology. And Innovation 2030, and also to achieve the axes of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, especially the axis of communication and integration between institutions of higher education and scientific research. Professor Dr. Amr Salah Morsy reviewed the beginning of the intensive training journey since March 2024 and over the course of three months, where 9 teams participated in the researchers’ track, and 7 of them qualified for the final competition, as well as 27 teams from Borg El Arab Technological University as a track. For students, 12 teams qualified for the final competition In addition, 4 teams in the researchers track from the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications won first and second place, and third place came equally between two teams, and 5 teams in the student track from Borg El Arab Technological University won first and second place, shared equally between two teams, and third place, shared equally between two teams. The city is scheduled to participate in the qualifiers between Egyptian universities and research centers in the 2024 Startup Olympiad competition at the level of various geographical regions in Egypt, with the participation of 68 universities with more than 930 teams.
