Pharmaceutical & fermentation industries development center Summer training courses

City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications plays the acquired role in serving the scientific community through training and raising the qualifications and skills of college students in different areas for the Egyptian labor market. The pharmaceutical and fermentation industries research center, SRTA City organized a training workshop for students of different colleges and universities (Pharmacy – Veterinary Medicine – Science – Agriculture) from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Alexandria University, Matrouh University. Aim of workshops The research training workshops was designed for undergraduate students. The training duration for each workshop was held for two or three days. It is a hybrid training consisting of an in-person lecture about the principle and the method used and then a practical workshop (demonstration and hands-on training). During these workshops, students learned about research methodology, good laboratory practice (GLP), and the integration of different research disciplines. Students then applied various practical methods based on their research methodology. Fundamental Cell culture and Flow Cytometer workshop The first phase of workshops, extended for 3 days from August 7th to 9th, confirmed attendance of (12) male and female students (the first phase of the center’s workshops), The workshop included workshop two training sessions, theoretical lectures on the basics and objectives of tissue culture and the use of cells to detect and cure cancerous diseases, the second session included Lab training on cell culture technology, laboratory precautions and good laboratory practices. Laboratory Animal Handling and Histology The second phase of workshops, extended from August 14th to 15th , confirmed attendance of 11 male and female students. The workshop included theoretical lectures on the basics and ethics of using laboratory animals in experiments, aiming at testing drugs for the treatment of different diseases and revealing the effect of different treatments and the extent of their effectiveness and toxicity. The workshop also included practical training for the students through presentations and practical experiments. The students were extensively trained on experimental animal handling and using different methods of drug uptake following laboratory precautions and good laboratory practices and under the supervision of specialized professors and technicians at the centre. Biological nanomaterials, synthesis, characterization, and medical applications. The third workshop was held during the period from August 21 to 22 for a group of students from practical colleges (science, pharmacy, and agriculture). The workshop was held with the attendance of 14 male and female students (the third phase of the center’s workshops), as the course program included theoretical lectures. In addition to practical training for students on preparing nanoparticles, learning about methods for their characterization, and studying their medicinal effect, the extent of their effectiveness, and their effect on cells. A total of 37 trainees attended the workshops as follows; students from Alexandria University (Faculty of Pharmacy (5) Faculty of Agriculture (8), Faculty of Science (11), Faculty of Medicine (3)), 3 students from Arab Academy For Science Technology and Maritime; Faculty of Pharmacy, 1 student from Pharos University; Faculty of Pharmacy, 1 student from Sinai University; Faculty of Pharmacy, 3 students from Misr University for Science and Technology; Faculty of Biotechnology, 1 student from Mansoura University Faculty of Science, 1 student from Tanta University; Faculty of Science. The training and theoretical lectures were held by qualified researchers at the Pharmaceutical and fermentation industries research center in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Manal Shalaby, Acting Head of The pharmaceutical and fermentation industries research center. At the end of workshops, Students were awarded achievement certificates.
