HPC Technologies from Clusters to Grid

On Sunday, October 23, 2022, Prof. Dr. Mona Mahmoud Abdel Latif, Director of the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications (SRTA-City), inaugurated the workshop titled "High-Performance Computing Technologies". This event was held as part of the activities of the National Project for Developing and Establishing a National Network for High-Performance Computing, Big Data Processing, and Networks, funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT). The project is a joint collaboration between an alliance comprising the Informatics Institute at SRTA-City, the Nanotechnology Graduate College at Cairo University, and Ain Shams University. The workshop emphasized the critical importance of fostering collaboration and integration among scientific and educational institutions through joint alliances possessing high-performance computing capabilities under a unified central management. This initiative aims to establish a national high-performance computing network that connects universities, centers, institutes, and research bodies to maximize the utilization of their capabilities and resources. This network will provide services to all affiliates in fields such as basic sciences and beyond, enhancing the efficiency of their research operations. These operations require precise computational processing and computer algorithms to be executed in record time, aligning with the state’s objectives for digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence across diverse scientific and practical applications.
