Vision

The Department of Food Technology serves as a catalyst for research and development in foodstuffs and its new functions and preserve of food safety and ingredients that promote and improve consumer health. It is also a center of research expertise in food technology with practical experience in the field of business in order to develop , improve and raise the nutritional value of foods to meet Human needs. The department also plays an important and vital role in the development of the food industry sector by providing qualitative research and conducting innovative demand-driven research in the local market. As well as to conduct research and transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as provide technical services to industrial sectors, small and medium enterprises and local communities.

Mission

Department of Food Technology is a leader in contributing to food quality, safety, availability and marketing through excellence in research, development innovation and providing services and consultation for food industry sector. Strategic Goals working to make the department a center of excellence in the field of research, development and training thanks to the presence of a group of scientists specialized in food science in its various branches, focusing the research efforts on solving the food problems that concern our immediate surroundings and the local and international food conditions, focus on maintaining the health of the Egyptian consumer and reducing the risk of diseases through research, development and creation of new products consisting mostly of natural materials (plant) and the development of special diets, promoting the marketing of innovative foodstuffs both in the local and international markets emphasizing the positive impact of functional foods on human health and testing them scientifically and practically through research and development, to be a center for technical services and technology transfer in the food industry and technology sector to achieve cooperation between practical research and the industrial sector at the national and international levels, the department should be a center for training and preparing qualified and experienced cadres for the food industry sector institutions in Egypt who have knowledge of the needs of the community to provide solutions for food contamination in the country, establishing a semi-industrial experiments unit in the department which aims to provide the necessary infrastructure for research and development and provides researchers with the ability to work and conduct research in the operation of an industrial facility for the production of a specific food product. Research fields include Food Chemistry and Biochemistry, Food safety, Food Microbiology, Functional food, Food processing technology, and Physical, rheological and sensory properties of food, and the Beneficiary includes the Food Industry sector, Consumers, Ministry of agriculture, and Ministry of supply.
