Vision
Protein Research Department (PRD) is one of GEBRI departments. It is concerned with protein science, research, applications, and theories. In general, it deals with all issues that could improve the ability to understand, isolate, purify, characterize, produce, and express proteins in different hosts, safely modify their backbone structure as well as to build personal capacity able to use different knowledge, protocols, experiments and instruments that could aid in the protein research, applications, engineering etc.
Mission
Our aim is to increase our understanding the protein as basic science and to introduce proteins which could be used in various technical, agricultural, food, medicinal and pharmaceutical applications. Additionally, solving problems related to the protein in different fields. Publishing significant research articles in highly ranked journals. Producing patents of valuable protein applications.
The running topics in the PRD are: Single cell protein, Antiviral and antibacterial short peptides, Microbial ghosts, antibodies, anticancer proteins, active natural proteins, probiotics, technical enzymes, bioinformatics, recombinant and engineered proteins, and enrichment of the protein content in food.
