City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications Participates in the Inauguration of the New Campus of Senghor University in the Presence of the Egyptian and French Presidents

In a major international celebration reflecting Egypt’s status as a hub for science and culture in the African continent, Professor Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Acting Director of SRTA City, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the new campus of Senghor University in New Borg El Arab City.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, alongside the Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie, ministers, ambassadors, and representatives of several African countries. The event took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

During her speech, Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie, expressed her pride in the selection of the new campus location, emphasizing that Senghor University has found its natural place alongside two prestigious scientific institutions: Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology and City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications. She noted that this makes SRTA City a fully integrated scientific hub recognized for its distinguished standing both locally and internationally.

In this context, Professor Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah expressed his pride in SRTA City’s presence as an integral part of this global scientific landmark in Borg El Arab. He also affirmed that the attendance of the Egyptian and French political leadership at this event reflects a profound belief in the role of science as a driving force for development.

He further stated that SRTA City continuously seeks to translate this support into tangible outcomes by enhancing the quality of applied research, publishing in the world’s most prestigious scientific journals, and expanding technical cooperation with the industrial and agricultural sectors — not only in Borg El Arab, but across Egypt — to ensure technology transfer and support entrepreneurship in line with Egypt’s future vision.

He added that SRTA City’s participation also reaffirms its role in supporting and motivating young people toward innovation through the practical training opportunities it provides for students of Egyptian universities and by offering an advanced research environment.

This participation comes within the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s commitment to ensuring the presence of its research institutions in every event that supports human development and sustainable progress through science and technology.
