12 researchers from the City of Scientific Research and Technology Applications are included in Stanford University’s list of the top 2% of the most influential scientists worldwide

Prof. Dr. Mona Mahmoud Abdel Latif, Director of the City, announced the inclusion of 12 researchers in the city on Stanford University’s list of the top 2% of the most influential scientists in the world in more than 50 scientific specializations in various scientific fields. The list was published on September 17, 2024. She added that this reflects the city’s efforts to improve the quality of scientific research and international publishing in various scientific fields and the city’s continuation of supporting the members of the Research Authority to increase their knowledge and keep pace with everything new in the performance of their research work, which in turn is reflected in the city’s position in general in local and international classifications of centers, institutes and research bodies.

 The list included: Prof. Dr. Mohamed Samir Mohi El-Din, Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Noura Al-Ahmadi Al-Najjar, Research Professor at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Al-Badawy Abdel Aziz Kamoun, Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, and Prof. Dr. Tamer Mahmoud Tamer, Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute as the top 2% of scientists in the world in terms of total scientific production (whole career) and scientific production for this year (single year).

 It included: Professor Dr. Yasser Refaat Abdel Fattah, Research Professor at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute and former Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, as the top 2% of scientists in the world in terms of total scientific production (whole career).

 It also included: Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Omar, Assistant Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, Dr. Gomaa Farouk El-Fawal, Assistant Research Professor at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, Prof. Mohamed Adel Ali Hassan, Research Professor at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, Dr. Marwa Mohamed Abu Saree, Assistant Research Professor at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, Prof. Ismail El-Fakharany, Research Professor at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Khaleq, Assistant Research Professor at the Arid Land Agriculture Research Institute, and Dr. Hesham Ali Hamad, Researcher at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, as the best 2% of scientists in the world in terms of total scientific production this year (single year).

It is worth noting that this classification is based on a set of factors related to the number of citations, the participation factor in scientific papers, the (h-index), and participation in reviewing and editing scientific research in international journals, according to the information published on the (Scopus) website for researchers, which is supervised by the international publishing house (Elsevier). The classification is on two levels: the first is based on the researchers’ career path throughout the work period (whole career-long data), and the second is at the level of a calendar year (single year).
