The City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications concludes its "Winter Schools 2026" program: "Practical Training Breaks the Barrier of Theory"

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Acting Director of the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications, the City concluded its "Winter Schools 2026" program. This program aimed to train and qualify a new generation of scientific talent from Egyptian university students in various scientific fields. The program was held from February 1st to 5th, 2026, under the supervision of a select group of the City's scientists.

In this context, Professor Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah emphasized that this year's winter schools were not merely fleeting training courses, but rather an interactive platform aimed at bridging the gap between academic curricula and practical applications. The city opens the doors of its laboratories and research institutes, equipped with the latest global technologies, to creative young people, based on the belief that investing in young minds is the true guarantee for achieving sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030. He added that the city is always keen to update the scientific content of these schools to keep pace with the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions and to connect them to the local, regional, and international labor markets, praising the students' outstanding performance during the training period.

For her part, Professor Dr. Mona Othman, Head of the Organizing Committee for Summer and Winter Schools, explained that the training program was designed to balance the theoretical and practical aspects. This was achieved through in-person attendance and was designated for top students of Alexandria University. Students were required to submit an official file specifying their cumulative grade point average (GPA). A total of (375) students applied for (8) training programs, and (207) students were accepted in various fields, including (green economy in the face of environmental challenges, water treatment, microbiology techniques, cell culture, food safety, and materials properties).

In addition to online attendance courses for students of various Egyptian universities, where (1088) students applied and (803) students were accepted into (5) training programs in different fields, namely: (Statistical Analysis, Air Quality, Food Quality, Employing Microbial Physiology in Environmental Cleansing from Pollutants, and Information Technology), from students of the scientific faculties (Engineering - Pharmacy - Veterinary Medicine - Science - Agriculture), it was explained that the current version witnessed the addition of a strategic axis related to “Entrepreneurship”, in order to help students to transform their research ideas into industrial models that can be implemented on the ground.
