

As part of the pioneering role of the Scientific Research City and Technological Applications in supporting and qualifying young talents and enhancing the scientific and practical skills of Egyptian university students, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Acting Director of SRTA City, announced the launch of the 2026/2027 Summer Schools on Monday, August 17, 2026.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad emphasized that the launch represents a natural and well-deserved continuation of the series of successes and achievements accomplished by the City’s training schools over the past years. He also stressed SRTA City’s continued commitment to supporting young researchers and Egyptian university students by opening the door of its advanced laboratories and providing them with access to the latest technological applications and an advanced research environment. This contributes to preparing qualified national cadres capable of competing regionally and internationally and leading the advancement of scientific and technological development.
Prof. Dr. Mona Ossman, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Training Schools, added that this year SRTA City was keen to provide fully funded training scholarships for 30 top-performing students from Alexandria University, in support of academic excellence and as an incentive for outstanding students. The remaining participating students will pay nominal fees for the training program.
She explained that 300 students applied, of whom 250 students were accepted to participate in seven training programs covering a variety of fields, including Green Economy in Addressing Environmental Challenges, Water Treatment, Molecular biology techniques and their applications, Cell Culture, Food Safety, and Materials Properties. She noted that the Summer Schools provide students with an opportunity to gain practical training under the supervision of a distinguished group of professors and researchers from the City’s specialized institutes and research centers.
The opening ceremony also witnessed a visit by a high-level delegation from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University, headed by Prof. Dr. Nevin Gharib El-Sayed, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by Prof. Dr. Amany Reda, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, as well as the heads of various departments.
The visit came within the framework of strengthening field cooperation and institutional integration between the research and academic sectors, as well as exploring mechanisms and design solutions for beautifying and developing the spaces and buildings of the Scientific Research City in a manner that reflects SRTA City’s visual and scientific identity.
