Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Acting Director of SRTA City, inaugurated the activities of the preliminary school exhibition for the Alexandria STEM School, affiliated with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The exhibition features students’ finalist projects competing for qualification for the 2027 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the United States. The event was held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amr Salah Morsi, Chairman of the Judging Committee and Dean of the Institute of Arid Lands Cultivation Research.
The exhibition involved 42 researchers from SRTA City’s research staff, representing various scientific disciplines, who participated as judges. This initiative comes within the framework of implementing the pillars of the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2030, particularly those related to scientific research, education and scientific culture, as well as SRTA City’s community service role in supporting the scientific and civil communities.
In his speech during the inauguration ceremony at the STEM Schools premises in Borg El Arab, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah emphasized that the participation of researchers and scientists as judges and mentors reflects the essence of the longstanding partnership between SRTA City and educational institutions.
He noted that SRTA City places all its human, laboratory, and technological resources at the disposal of STEM students, enabling them to transform their innovative research ideas into high-quality applied projects that qualify them to compete effectively on the international stage, particularly at the 2027 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
He further explained that this support reinforces SRTA City’s community service mission. The City’s role extends beyond advancing and utilizing knowledge within its research centers and laboratories to making an active contribution to the development of the surrounding community and empowering young people with the tools of knowledge and innovation. Young people, he stressed, are the driving force behind development and Egypt’s hope for building a knowledge-based society and an economy founded on innovation and sustainable technological solutions.
Regarding the projects and innovations on display, the exhibition featured 90 research projects covering 17 advanced and vital fields, most notably artificial intelligence, medical sciences, environmental sustainability, and materials science. SRTA City’s leading role was particularly evident in its provision of scientific supervision and technical support for 50 projects, representing more than half of all participating projects.
For his part, Mr. Mahmoud Salah El-Din, Principal of the STEM School for Excellence in Science and Technology, praised the continuous support provided by SRTA City to the school through its distinguished scientific and research services. He affirmed that this collaboration offers students a valuable opportunity to acquire the research and practical skills essential for their scientific futures.
