Statement on the Achievements of SRTA City During the Period from July 2025 to June 2026
In a new milestone reflecting SRTA City's commitment to research excellence, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah, Acting Director of SRTA City , presented the annual achievements report highlighting the SRTA City's most significant outputs and activities during the period from July 2025 to June 2026.
He emphasized that SRTA City successfully translated its strategic vision into tangible achievements by delivering an integrated package of technological and innovative solutions that serve the industrial sector and support the knowledge-based economy. He also noted that all activities and projects implemented throughout the year were closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as scientific outputs effectively contributed to resource efficiency, the promotion of the green economy, and the development of clean technologies that help mitigate climate change.
He further praised the efforts of SRTA City's researchers, whose work resulted in patent achievements and numerous scientific awards, stressing that fostering an innovation-friendly environment and linking scientific research with entrepreneurship remain among SRTA City's highest priorities.
As part of its ongoing efforts to achieve the objectives of the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2030, SRTA City continues to advance sustainable development through several strategic pathways, foremost among them enhancing the productivity and quality of scientific publishing in leading international journals. During the period from July 2025 to June 2026, these efforts resulted in the publication of 415 scientific papers in prestigious international journals with high impact factors, averaging 2.59 publications per researcher. These publications received widespread international citations, significantly improving SRTA City's global standing and strengthening its position in various international rankings.

SRTA City's achievements were not limited to increasing international publications but also included a significant rise in research citations. From July 2025 to date, the published research received 2,078 citations, reflecting the success of the strategic plan aimed at enhancing the quality of applied scientific research and improving SRTA City's performance in global university and research institution rankings.

SRTA City ranked 4,607th worldwide, placing it within the top 42.5% of research institutions globally, compared to 4,629th in 2025, representing an improvement of 4.9%. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering that the number of institutions included in the ranking increased from 9,756 in 2025 to 10,827 in 2026, adding 1,071 new institutions and intensifying global competition.
SRTA City also maintained its position within the Q1 category (Top 25%) of research and academic institutions worldwide. Four of its research institutes were ranked within Q1:

A total of 19 researchers from SRTA City were included in Stanford University's list of the World's Top 2% Most Influential Scientists, according to the September 2025 update, representing an increase of 7 researchers compared with the previous year.

Highly Cited Researchers List
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Omar, Head of the Polymer Materials Department at the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute, was the only Egyptian researcher included in the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list.
The list recognizes the top 1% of researchers worldwide whose publications have demonstrated exceptional scientific impact and quality. Selection is based on comprehensive citation analysis, focusing on highly cited papers published in Q1 journals.
Research Projects and Patents
Research Projects
As part of its strategy to attract external funding beyond traditional budget allocations,SRTA City's researchers secured financial support for six ongoing research projects during the period from July 2025 to June 2026 through competitive national and international funding calls. These projects are fully aligned with the scientific priorities of SRTA City's research institutes.
Researchers also actively participated in scientific committees and collaborative projects led by universities and other research institutions.
Patents
During the reporting period:
• One patent was officially granted.• Two patent applications were submitted and are currently under examination.
SRTA City's researchers also supervised numerous Master's and PhD theses at various universities and actively participated in local and international conferences, workshops, and specialized training programs.
Awards and Competition Achievements
Institutional and Individual Awards
Prof. Dr. Ismail Mohamed Mohamed El-Fakhrany, Senior Research Professor at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, received the 2024 Institutional and Individual Award in Basic Sciences (Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bahaa El-Din Fayez Award in Natural Products and Pharmaceutical Chemistry), presented by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT).
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards
A multidisciplinary research team consisting of:

from the Advanced Technology and New Materials Research Institute (Electronic Materials Department), together with Dr. Mohamed Nawar, Lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Menoufia University, qualified for the Startups Olympics 2024, funded by the Innovators Support Fund (ISF), under the Researchers Track, with their project entitled "Manufacturing LED Lamps."
In addition, Dr. Islam Sobhy, from the Environment and Natural Materials Research Institute, won Second Place among Egyptian universities and research centers in the first edition of the Innovation for Humanity 2025 competition, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Misr El Kheir Foundation.
Cooperation Protocols and Scientific Agreements
Recognizing the importance of collaboration with research institutions, universities, industrial companies, and national organizations, SRTA City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Horizon Chemical for Specialty Chemicals.
The agreement covers joint applied research, specialized training programs, and the sharing of scientific expertise, laboratory facilities, and research equipment to enhance applied research and innovation.
Community Services
Since its establishment, SRTA City has remained committed to its scientific and social responsibility by providing a comprehensive range of consultancy and analytical services. Its Central Laboratories and Data Center support universities, Egyptian research institutions, and industrial sectors across various fields.
SRTA City also places strong emphasis on capacity building by training undergraduate students in scientific disciplines and supporting students from STEM Schools.
Key performance indicators include:
• Field Visits: 567 students from schools and universities visited SRTACity.• Training Programs: 397 students benefited from funded training programs, while 111 students participated in other specialized training activities.• Seasonal Schools: ◦ Winter School 2026: 1,813 participants◦ Summer School 2025: 1,510 participantsProf. Dr. Mohamed Rashad Abdel Fattah concluded by reaffirming SRTA City's unwavering commitment to supporting researchers and innovators. He announced that the strategic plan for the coming year will primarily focus on expanding the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation in scientific research, while contributing to the localization of advanced manufacturing technologies in line with Egypt's national priorities and economic development goals.
